Dinner is Served

Last Thursday, my BFF, Rashon Carraway celebrated his birthday with an official birthday dinner in a private gallery space.  He coincidentally shares his birthday with Prince (who I am a huge fan of) and that's probably another reason to add to the list of why I love him dearly.  To commemorate the occasion he hosted an all-black intimate dinner party of friends and supporters.

Being the decor guru that he is, of course the layout was impeccable with deliberate hues of purple flowers to celebrate the beautiful one himself, Prince.  Check out photos below.  (photos by MPOV Photography)

For those of you who follow my blog, you already know that I love colorful pieces, so the BFF's request to wear all black was a struggle for me.  I actually rolled my eyes when he said it (lol) . . . . . but I obliged and luckily had a little number in my closet that was perfect.  This baroque style tea dress with embroidered mesh detailing was perfect.  I originally ordered this dress for a promotional photo shoot to highlight my series, How to D.R.E.S.S: An Inspirational eSTYLE Guide due out this fall, but figured this would be a great time to debut the look in person at a noteworthy event.

The dress went over well and what I love most about it is that it's stylish, yet comfortable.  The mesh bodice kept me cool throughout the evening and the full skirt design allowed me to move freely.  I paired the dress with a simple black patent stiletto heel and matching patent purse with understated accessories; a simple stud and matching baroque bracelet.

forgive the photo quality, we were so busy entertaining that we didn't get a professional photo of us together
