Look Fab for Less

Happy Sunday!  I hope that each of you have enjoyed this beautiful (yet gloomy) day.  I picked today's look with one theme in mind . . . . NEONS.  I'm an avid lover of color and embrace all hues and shades, I just typically don't wear them all at once, lol.

I decided to be a bit daring and combine many of my favorite colors, shades, and fabrics.  In addition to wanting to showcase something a little different, I also wanted to pull off a look that would be easy on the pocketbook.

Before I get to the individual pieces that make up this look, let me first state, that I NEVER wear a complete look from one retailer.  It's always a combination of varying pieces and designs that give that extra oomph when creating a stellar look.  Having said that, here are the details of this ensemble that cost me approximately $50 out of pocket (yes, you read correct - approximately $50.00). . . . . .

the essentials

1.  citrus lime chiffon collarless blazer - kmart $16.79 (link HERE)

2.  purple fitted tank - walmart $5.88 (link HERE)

3.  coral pleated maxi skirt - Papaya Clothing $20.99 (link HERE

4.  t-strap sandal - kmart $9.99 (link HERE)

add your own personal flare by accessorizing a unique pair of earrings, necklace, and clutch purse

5.  earrings - Elle VJ $14 (link HERE)

7.  clutch - Frock Shop $28 (link HERE)

Grecian Goddess

Happy Monday everyone - I hope that each of you had an eventful and stylish weekend . . . . I sure did.  The BFF, Rashon Carraway, hosted an all white dinner party on Saturday evening, so of course I was in attendance (assisting with co-hosting duties), and I must say that the event went off without a hitch (with the exception of the fire alarm).

The theme was all white, with an accent of gold here and there.  I'll be the first to publicly state, this was the most beautiful dinner, attended by some of the most beautiful and stylish people throughout the Carolina's.

For my look, I decided on a one-shoulder Grecian inspired look, that I've had for several years and never worn.  It was actually a dress that I carried in my boutique by Alexia Designs that I stored in my garage when I closed my physical store.

Hope you enjoy!

POST EVENT RELEASE: Peter Thomas, Kordell Stewart, and Carlo Wilkes open Sports ONE Charlotte

This Thursday, August 7th, the gentlemen of Sports ONE Charlotte (Peter Thomas, Kordell Stewart, and Carlo Wilkes) welcomed several hundreds of guests (and had to turn away many more) for the invite only VIP and media preview party of their new establishment.  This new venture has been welcomed and embraced by the Charlotte and surrounding areas and hopes to prove to be the new “hot spot”.  Conveniently located in uptown Charlotte, Sports ONE Charlotte is a similar, but separate entity than that of bar ONE, the upscale tapas lounge located in Atlanta, GA.  Sports ONE Charlotte, an upscale lounge featuring floor to ceiling mirrors, light wooded flooring and custom bar, private deco lounge, along with tv’s and mega-sized sports paintings (including one of partner Kordell Stewart) was completely designed by Peter Thomas, long time restaurateur and event architect.

I had the distinct pleasure of producing and managing Thursday nights star studded preview, as I have been working with these gentlemen for 2 years on this project as their Charlotte branding and marketing manager.  Guests were greeted with valet parking and ushered through the red carpet for photos and candids upon entering.  Throughout the night guests were able to sample select menu items including the ever popular salmon bites and themed cocktail named after Cynthia Bailey, Real Housewives of Atlanta cast mate, the “Cynthia Crush”.  Mid-evening the housewife herself, Cynthia Bailey “and friends” made an entrance greeted to a packed house of fans, friends, and onlookers.  Guests were both entertained and welcomed by both Peter Thomas and wife, Cynthia Bailey, with selfies and hugs, and Bailey even played guest bartender for a brief second.  It was indeed an entertaining evening full of cheer and laughter, as Peter Thomas toasted to another successful business venture and plugged others as guests were given complimentary samples of his new coffee, Peter’s Brew, and given insider info on bar ONE Charlotte which will begin construction soon.  I'll keep you updated!!!

1st Sunday Brunch Kicks Off

It's the start of a new week and I'm kicking it off in style!  This Sunday I hosted the first monthly (of many to come) 1st Sunday Brunch.  It's a concept that literally came together in a matter of 48 hours (or was is destined a couple years ago . . . keep reading).

The way this event came about, I was sitting on my couch last Sunday and thought it'd be a good idea to get together with a few of my social media friends for brunch.  Social media has made it so easy for us to lose touch with people and I really want to get back to real conversation and fellowship.  I decided to proposition it via Facebook with the following post: "I would love to connect with many of you beyond social media . . . . Who's up for brunch next Sunday . . . . . . "

To my surprise (really, NOT - lol) I had a couple dozen people express interest in attending and joining in on this new, but not new, concept of being social beyond the internet walls of social media.  Our first #1stSundayBrunch kicked off at the contemporary 5 Church Restaurant in uptown Charlotte as we all embraced a joyous brunch in true southern style.

Here are a few of the stylish attendees:

What I wore

I've had this multi-print dress for several months at the back of my closet, which I absolutely love for the collar, and decided to pull it out for the day.  Because it's a Sunday brunch I wanted to definitely wear a hat, but not in the traditional sense.  I found this cute little fascinator at the local beauty shot I frequent and thought it to be the perfect compliment to both the dress and the shoes.  The shoes . . . . oh my, how I love these shoes.  These too, I've had for several months, actually since December, and this was my first time wearing them.  They are absolutely wonderful!!!
